About Jesus Christ
Thanks for taking the time to learn more about Jesus. We are not Bible scholars so we hope that by reading the few words we've included here you will want to learn more about the most amazing and important life in history, the life everlasting lived and offered by Jesus of Nazareth.
Prophecies of the coming of the Messiah.
In the Old Testament of the Bible, over a thousand years before the time of Christ on earth, a Jewish prophet named Isaiah who believed only in one God, the God of Abraham, made this prophecy:
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." You can find this verse in any Bible in the Book of Isaiah, chapter 7 verse 14. If you need a Bible, we offer a free outreach Bible to all those seeking to know more about Jesus Christ.
In the book of Isaiah you can also read more of the prophecy of the arrival of the one who would be called Emmanuel, meaning God is with us. Born human but of a higher nature.
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6,
Several hundred years later, a Jewish prophet named Daniel made this prophecy as recorded in the Old Testament:
"There before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven . . . He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed." Daniel 7:31-14.
Nearly a thousand years would pass before a man named Jesus referred to Himself as ?coming out of the clouds of heaven". Many who heard His claim refused to believe it, and used His claim as one of many reasons to have him put to death. Despite the prophecies and His virgin birth, His miracles and His truth, the Jews whose ancestors prophesied of His coming were either believers or non believers.
The Times Of Jesus
You can learn a great deal about the birth and early years of the life of Jesus from the New Testament of the Bible. Here are some examples of how, from His birth, many who came into contact with Jesus knew Him to be the Messiah.
The Birth Of Jesus
Three wise men really did see a star and actually did make a long journey guided by that star to the very stable where Jesus was born. Upon seeing Him, they felt the presence of God all around them and they were compelled to bow to this child, just born in a humble stable:
"On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him." Mathew 2:11
The Ministries Of Jesus
Jesus was worshiped from His birth by many whom He touched. Through His miracles, His presence and His teachings, His following grew. Here are some examples from the New Testament:
From Mathew 14: 32-33 "And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying,'Truly you are the Son of God'."
From John 10:30-33: Jesus said near a Jewish temple, "I and the Father are one."And as the well educated Jews who listening prepared to stone Jesus, he said further, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?' ?We are not stoning you for any of these,' replied the Jews, 'but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."
Jesus made His claim of deity supported by His birth, the travels and the reverence of the Magi, His miracles and his following, He is still unaccepted by most of the Jewish people in that time. And so, they pressure the ruling Roman government to put Jesus to death. The only proof left for The Son Of Man, was to accept a horrible earthly death and then to rise from the dead and prove His holiness and offer salvation to all who will believe in Him.
The Resurrected Jesus
From John 20:27-29: "Then He said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.' Thomas said to him, 'My Lord and my God!' Then Jesus told him, 'Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
