God's Promises Genesis 9:13 Christian Art Poster
We are all familiar with God's promise to Noah, that he would never again destroy the earth with a flood, and that the rainbow was a sign and a reminder of that promise. This art poster shows a rainbow from a different perspective.
I am reminded of some questions my son, a seminary student, once brought up about rainbows: Is it just a coincidence that the rainbow is a bow? A bow like the main weapon of combat in those days? And that the bow is pointed in God's direction?
He was certain that the sign was also to say that next time God wiped the human slate clean, it would be at God's own personal expense. That He, Himself would take the blow, and bear the burden for reconciliation.
It is a subtle picture of the Grace that would, in time, be our free gift. I am reminded when I see a rainbow now, of God's ultimate sacrifice and the promise I have of Grace: Sins forgiven, slate wiped clean.
